Then there's corporations and lobbies buying influence, shills, bots, and you have what we see here on a daily basis. Ever wonder why even some of the illiterates on this site who couldn't find Mexico on the map if it was outlined in dayglo are posting the same exact memes as others before this stuff hits the news the next day? Sure, heard on other sources, don't meed the 6:30pm news, but the SAME meme subject? ALL? Only ONE politically newsworthy topic per week? Where's the "Who's the traitor in the Cabinet?" memes? Forgot, it isn't Monday yet.
True what you said about "If it bleeds, it leads" but that's because we're all a bunch of depraved vampires. Carnage is entertainment, and we live in a reality show come true world.
These are all meant as distractions, people squabbling over shiny celebs whose only concern about us drones duking it out in defense of their exhalted names is how much money they can suck from us. Tax cut for the rich? I'mmo be rich non day. NRA in pain? Well here's my tax-dectable contribution to your billion dollar gauze. Football star profiting off his golly-gee-look-at me gallant mission? Sure, let me buy a pair in support or to burn, it's still just profit to them.
As for guns, laws are one thing, enforcement and circumventing them is another.
We've seen how it can work in NYC when a multi prong effort is put into it (stringent regs, social iniciatives designed to alter the culture of violence, police integration into the neighborhoods they patrol making them something other than the enemy come to bust us. Is that feasible or desired in other areas? Naah, collateral damage is preferred. We were born out of a tradition of brutality, need to preserve that.
One really simple solution for schools that they've used that works is metal detectors. No guns, no knives, no paper clips. But that would be to easy for the 'two' warring factions, we need more blood spilled first.
