I'm pretty sure there are lots of parents that wish that their children weren't forced to go to schools where they are corralled and defenseless, either.
Gun control vs. self-defense rights is not a question of whether or not someone cares about dead kids, it's about different opinions on the best way to protect people. If I had children who were killed, I wouldn't want them to be used as a political point. That is the real disrespect.
