It took $400 million to make and promote, it is sitting at $388 million worldwide (from what I found). So, with DVD sales it might make a profit. Barely

In a way, Luke path would make sense for all the movies. But, episode VIII was poorly done. I could have been an awesome movie.

Very true. The way they developed his character was half-baked and not believable. I watched a video where someone suggested him refusing to continue Kylo's training would be a more believable action on Luke's part, and plenty of reason to trigger Kylo into defecting.

Episode VIII committed the cardinal sin of killing off a major villain who got ZERO character development.
