Given that somone died literally trying to rescue them, I think the meme was in poor taste, even with the irony of who the meme is in defense of. If that was a US Navy Seal instead of theirs...

I just don't think it really matter either way. Most of these kids are being rescued. Also, the meme seems more about the media spin than anything else. NO problem making fun of that.

But until yesterday, it wasn't sure clear that they could rescue them, so that was the situation when the meme was made.

I do agree with what you said about media spin. The only almost good thing about it is that just takes 2 minutes to know what is the only thing their going to say all day, so won't miss anything by changing channels.
