And you ignore it completely as is evidence from your lack of knowledge of history. It's okay that the "native" tribes slaughtered each other for the land, but when the "evil white man" does it...

You're just angry because the Europeans came with better weapons and won the fight.

Savages will be savages.

And I highly doubt you finished college before I was born, unless you're in your late 60's.

I just laugh when someone thinks they're smarter or more educated than me because they happened to be born at an earlier date.

"...I finished all my University studies including American and world history before you were even born."

A guess doesn't make someone smarter. He guesses he finished his university studies on American history before I was even born. He guesses because he has no idea when I was born. lol! He thinks I'm 15, or maybe 22. He'll most likely respond with, "no, I'm guessing you're young because your arguments sound like they're coming from a teenager." Or something along those lines.

So because they fought with each other, because that's what men like to do, it gave the "settlers" the right to slaughter the women and children and take their land?

How about all the women and children slaughtered by indigionus people? The settlers mostly killed in self defense. Nobody came here with the intent to wipe out all the indigiounus people as you suggest.

The settlers killed to steal land, plus then rape the women, which is Ok as long as they're not Christian (shades of Islam, of no).

If that was even vaguely true, you wouldn't be here.

Invasion, extermination, slavery - all in the name of greed of the most savage bloodthirsty variety and some Judean guy floating in the sky for a couple of millenia named Y'eshua bar-Yoseph.

In keeping with the theme of the meme, given the peculiar American prediliction for killing each other because guns ARE made for a reason and need to be tested every so often, you won't mind los Mexicanos taking their land back from us then I take it, as the native blood that courses through the veins of many yearns for a return trip to THEIR home, eh?

I'm not going to argue like a child about something you're trying to prove that doesn't really exist. You can act like a sheep and believe everything you're spoon-fed by CNN, MSNBC, etc, but I know better. I'm not as gullible as you and the other trump haters are. Your hatred for Trump has blinded you."

Ok, Ok, I was a bit glib, but yeah.

Anyways, I've not liked Trump since way before there was a CNN, or even TBS, for that matter.
Being from NYC, we've unfortunately been aware of him since 1973, him acting as his own publicity agent and drowning us in his shenanigans. Remember the popcorn spill on SNL? Total cringe and obviously at the behest of guess who? Blinders could have been useful for that.

Dang, due to visiting relatives, I've even been IN Trump towers more times than I care to remember. The Italian orange marble waterfall thingy is pretty tho. But serioulsy, his endless newest construction plans and buying air rights to overdevelop the West Side and whatever else didn't settle well with people, as moves to stop such can attest.

Anyways, bottom line, he didn't lose here by 89% because of concerns that the wall would close off the Mexican border from the biggest city of immigrants in world history. There's millions more from eleswhere waiting to fill that incoming gap. My neighborhood is currently being taken over by Pakis and assorted other Moslems. Ever try having them as next door neighbors? Not a particularly neighborly lot. If Trump can stem that flow, I sure wouldn't mind. Had an apartment for 21 years round Arthur Ave, mixed but with a significant Mexican presence (and Moslems, etc), and they were far more pleasant.

Anyways, I basically had issue with calling people savages when it was the invaders who acted in said manner to an extreme degree.

Yes, I'm still being a bit on the glib side again, but that's not an attack on you, it's just the issue.

Despite what you may think, I am not a Trump teet suckler. I do have a few issues with him, mostly from the past. It's scraping out all the fake news stories about him and separating them from the truth that is difficult sometimes. There is so much fake news about him now that he's president because the left hates him.

The biggest issue I have with him is his blatant womanizing. I admit that he is a womanizer, at least he was in the past, but not as much now. He has changed a bit from his past. But his past is his past and what he's doing now for the country is what I look at most.

The fake stories about his racism is absurd. I don't see any racism with him and the left is making it up, just as they do with everyone else who don't agree with them.

Trump has done more good with this country as president in his first 1 1/2 years in office than Barack Obama and George Bush did in 16 years combined. Black unemployment is at its lowest ever, Hispanic unemployment is at its lowest and women unemployment is also. Overall unemployment is at its lowest in 40 years.

Anyway, while I support Trump (in the primaries I was not a fan) I am not a Trump sheep. But he has done the most of any president since I've been an adult and able to vote, that I've agreed with then any other.

If you feeling that you need the threat of an imaginary punishment of a eternal hell says somthing about you. Imaginary beings are not imprinted onto our hearts. It’s countless years of evolution and social development that created morality, truth of right n wrong which assured humans could form Trible groups and so on.

Evolution doesn't create moral integrity.

Now excuse me while I go to the beach and watch the sand form itself into a sand castle. Maybe if I have some extra time, I'll watch the sand castle form itself into a bird and watch it fly away.
0 ups, 6y
Not exactly.

One theory proposes that an instinct towards religious feeling (an inclination shared by ALL humans) developed as such fostered empathy, altruism, and cohesion, thus increasing survival rates of individuals within the group and also allowing it to increase in size, further increasing survival rates and ultimately allowing for the development of larger societies as opposed to family troops limited in size and cooperation that we see with other social animals. Those not conferred with such instincts had lower survival rates, and thus got cleared out of the gene pool.

I was raised Catholic, therefore am no longer a believer (haha), but who cares if others believe what they want? Can you imagine how people would act without even that to curb their base impulses somewhat?

I do take issue with the blindly self righteous, but otherwise, if someone religious is not disrespecting me by clobbering me with pompous self serving hypocrisy, what benefit is it to disrespect them and their faith?

Further, religion IS the foundation of our moral code, laws, culture. It's not accidental that Canada and Mexico were never the astounding success as the USA even though they share the same resources (albeit to different degrees). Hordes of Protestents fleeing persecution settled here. Then, and later with rapid expansion into the West, setlers congregated in Churches for a touch of the home they left behind. With the Protestant work ethic and belief in God blessing the saved with success causing the faithful to strive harder showing that they were amongst the saved lead to America's drive, ingenuity, and notions of Manifest Destiny which ultimately lead us to lead the world.

Not going to pretend to overlook the negative aspects throughout, but picture the world NOT lead by the US, and we're back to the savage near Medievel quest for more by spilling the blood of others, something that has significantly been reduced since the end of WWII.

You can pretend all you like to believe this or that but unless you actually obey all some 640ish biblical commands? Then you are simply not a Christian. Cherry picking scripture only exposes that you use a HORRIBLY, MISTAKE RIDDEN, AND CONTRADICTORY BOOK to justify yourself and your personal views of the world around you. You know? Radical Islam is the same disease as The Catholics and Christians once were. But? idea's can not be destroyed from the outside. They must die from within. Their adherents realizing their falsehoods and impossibilities for themselves..
[deleted]
1 up, 6y
Actually, it is impossible to obey every commandment. Without God, we can't do any of it. Some commands are easier to obey, like not stealing or committing murder, but without God we are lost.

"Radical Islam is the same disease as The Catholics and Christians once were."

Exactly. Were.

Yet here we are in the modern world, and Moslems are still mired in what Christianity and every other religion has evolved past. And nope, no "stages of evolution, Islam is 'only' 1400 years old," or "they haven't been exposed to other cultures as the West had been" excuses. This IS the modern world, more people (70%) own cell phones than have access to toilets (40% don't even have so much as a village outhouse to go too), so festering ossified ignorance is a cheap excuse based on their own codified barbarism.

Let's talk about the missionaries who first turned the indigenous heathens into God-faring people, how they often beat them into submission, and shamed them for their cultural traits which ironically often get celebrated now. The missionaries were a tool of imperialism and some of them turned out to be the worst of the worst (others were cool though, I admit, and did good things for people).

Especially a country that not too long ago prided itself on being the "melting pot" of cultures. They fought each other so it's ok we slaughtered them. I'm descended from immigrants but you didn't have to fill out paperwork back then. Just because you stole something then passed a law saying they can't have it back doesn't make it morally ok you stole it in the first place.

Keep accusing the right of being (insert favorite adjective) and keep pushing it until the person begins to believe it. However, it won't work on me.

It was really just an excuse to use the term.
I used to be a forum elsewhere and some of us used it and similar a lot because it was so stupid yet still funny. Lots of Brits on that site too, so knob and bum and arse and the like are used frequently.

That being said, Trump has not only strayed from his past stances on issues, he's contradicted himself in single sessions such as the one about DACA where he told Dems twice to give him the bill and he'd sign it and the time he chided Repubs for not facing the NRA. He IS a businessman (and a tad addled), and is in the habit of telling people what they want to hear.
