This is a more correct-ish use of the semi colin. It implies that a sentence is to continue; not to end like either a period or a comma suggests - like what I did just then. The later part of the sentence was part of the first one and not a separate article; and, in this way, it would be more like a colin if a colin weren't parenthetical. Keep this in mind, young padawan and enjoy the complimentary upvote
