Currently I'm still running Windows XP. It's not that I can't get a new OS, it's that, firstly, I have way too much stuff to go through and backup or delete, and secondly, my system is 10 years old. I'm afraid if I tried to install a new OS the whole thing would crap out on me, and I can't afford a new one. *sigh*

In my OPINION, the benefits of upgrading outweigh the risks of not upgrading.

But I'm only a computer professional. Your mileage may vary. ;-)

Oh it's not about weighing risks, I /literally/ can't afford a new one. I've been bloody lucky as it is, I know, especially since I'm not only running a ten year old computer, I'm running a 10 year old OS install, but I'm on disability and money's too tight.

In fact I've been wondering if Canadian citizens can apply to become refugees in the US, because in both countries, they're given about twice as much as I get. (-.-;)

Microsoft has a free upgrade to Windows 10 for people with disabilities.

Check it out before it expires. They just extended it again, I think. Google several sources fore the latest date. :-)

And that's even if, as I mentioned, I wasn't so concerned about installing a new OS on a system that I think is hanging on by a fingernail.

MS doesn't KNOW who downloads the OS.

It's their way of getting it out there FOR FREE. ;-)

They may not know who, but they can surely tell certain specifics of the OS being upgraded >.>
