The ability to make untraceable guns at home is a possible perilous consequence of gun control, and thus worthy of discussion.

But a 3D printer effectively would be making them beyond deregulated, as they would be untracable. Cannot regulate what is not registered as manufactured by a certified legal company making them according to certain specs and within the law, etc.

Bomb materials are traceable, as is where and to whom they were sold. Tim MacVay? Now purchases of such fertilizer in quantity must be reported, can be limited, or even refused.

Homemade bombs are finicky too. Can't test em like guns.

According to your line of reasoning, it's hopeless trying to halt guns and bombs, so your non-solution is muting your moot point.

allaboutmeme1212 already pointed the untraceable aspect out earlier.

Considering the close quarters most mass shootings occur I would prefer a shotgun to an AR. Both in stopping a mass shooter and if I was tasked with clearing out a room full of hostiles. So I would go with the shotgun for both defensive and offensive use in close quarter scenarios.

But because people ignorant on the use of shotguns dismiss them as old wall hanging hand-me-downs from past generations. Or no count metal pipes poorly carried by your stereotypical redneck. You will never appreciate what these guns have to offer. Just what ever the media says right? The AR is the *only* gun to be feared.
