And unfortunately some people simply have hate in their heart. The problem is when a society finds ways to excuse that hate, regardless of the color of their skin. And then to make things worse, there are many people in the world who respond to this hate, with even more hate, using the childish excuses of "they started it" or "they did it so we should be able to do it too". And all this ultimately does is spread more anger, more intolerance, more bigotry, and more misery; and no one group is totally innocent in all this.Fighting hate with hate is never the answer, it's little more than mutually assured misery and migrain. The only true way to fight hate is with love. I remember reading in a newspaper at work about an incident in which an African American approached a Neo Nazi. He didn't hurl insults, or name call. He talked to the man, asked questions. H eventually asked the Neo Nazi if he could hug him. The man agreed. And before parting ways the African American asked the Neo Nazi why he hated him and the response was a sad and confused,"I don't know". Obviously it's not a total victory but this little bit of love and humanity at least go the man to question his hate and bigotry, and possibly started him down a path that will lead him to denounce that racism. I doubt that name calling or violence could have done better.
