Not entirely. Discipline and punishment is important, but it needs to be done right. The child must know the purpose of punishment and must learn to do good rather than simply fear consequences. The greatest mistake that most families make is simply not being involved in their kids' lives, and then punishing behavior that could have been avoided in the first place with proper teaching.
