It happened here in my town a couple months ago. A 2 year old and a 1 year old were leftbin a car from 9pm to 12 noon the next day. The 19 year old mother was partying inside the home and even ignored the crying, as did her friends in the house. Then she tried to cover it up by lying to the police. She's in jail right now waiting to be charged.

wow! | WHY DOES IT KEEP HAPPENING, THOUGH?? | image tagged in wow | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Isn't it MIND BOGGLING that it keeps occurring, even though it's on the news so much?? I mean, you'd think people would be more aware as we get older and supposedly wiser!

Like getting into a bad car accident while intoxicated! No matter how many times people see it on the news, they still get behind the wheel and drive drunk!
5 ups, 7y
Exactly. Like high ranking politicians hiring hookers using official credit cards. lol

I don't know why it has to keep happening. I have a five year old daughter and there's no way I would ever "forget" her. When they do that it's on purpose.

On behalf of your precious daughter :-)

Are the kids okay now?

Well, since I have to have at least some weirdness on all of my posts, please excuse this next part:

WALLWAR CAR DAY!

No, both of them died. The mother will most likely be charged with murder.

That's sad. R.I.P. Kids.

Legal here (Tennessee). I'll call 911 first, but if the police/fire aren't there in ~5 minutes, I'll take action.
3 ups, 7y
I've heard of cool people doing that. For dogs, too

It's legal here, too. It's considered saving a life. There was a story of a woman who left her two kids in the car and a man was walking by and saw them. It was about 85 degrees out so inside the car it would have been about 110.

The guy tried to open the door, but the doors were locked so he busted out the window just as the mother was coming back. She tried to sue him to pay for the damage, but she ended up on probation for child endangerment.

I just looked up a story. How disgusting and sad. I am just shocked that no one, (maybe a neighbor) who allegedly heard the crying babies, bothered to check on them. Even in stores, if I hear a baby/kid crying and carrying on for more than a couple of minutes, I try to at least peep to make sure they are being tended to. So, so, so sad.
2 ups, 7y
I'm actually the same way. But I know that kids are usually rowdy in a store, so I am not too quick to check on them. It's nice to know that good folk like you are on the scene, hon. No joke :-)

I busted a window once when I managed a grocery store. We paged over the intercom 5 times and nobody replied or went out to the car. I called the police and they said feel free to bust the window and get the kid some ice water.."at this point it had been 30 mins, the child was little enough to be strapped into a car seat and was crying. I won't even leave my 5 yr old in the car for 2 mins while I run into a gas station.

And the thing is, these parents, babysitters, relatives, etc. should also be wary of someone possibly KIDNAPPING the child/ren, let alone the heat possibly killing them! You really have to wonder sometimes if it's being done deliberately!
3 ups, 7y
Exactly, I've always been extremely paranoid of letting my kids out of my site. There are simply too many crazy people out there to trust their safety for any amount of time. Unfortunately there is a drivers test etc, but no test to become a parent :/

Ikr its sad for all kids and pets to be in cars. When I was little, I rarely heard any child or pet being left in the car until now and it's getting worse. They just don't want responsablities anymore with either the child or pet and they do it in this cruel way. :(
0 ups, 4y
I absolutely agree with all of you guys. But I have yet to see anyone relating this to the cruelty of abortion. People decide to do something that could cause them to have a child, and then they realize they don't want the responsibility so they either directly terminate the life, yes LIFE of the child, or they neglect it's need of oxygen at the moment it is born so that it suffocates, just like the children left in these cars. Yes, kids left in hot cars is becoming way too prevalent, but abortion has been much more widespread for years and years.

I feel the same way when i'm driving down the street and I see a car with a bunch of young kids in the back seat, not belted in,jumping around. Again, its the "it wont happen to me" mentality. "We are just going a few blocks to Mcdoanlds, were not gonna get into an accident"

I remember driving in traffic one day and yelling at a little boy to sit down before he gets hurt because he was standing up and bouncing while looking out the back window as the car was in motion. His parents didn't seem to pay him any mind! Anyway, he gave me a surprised look and quickly sat down!

The last one I read about was from Florida. The bitch left her kid in the car ALL FRIGGIN NIGHT because she was throwing an all-night party. And neither she nor her guests checked on him when he was heard crying!

Too often we think that everyone has the same knowledge as us and that everyone is informed about the same tragedies, but they're not. Some people float through life in blissful ignorance. This is not an excuse - it's completely inane regardless of ignorance - but it is an explanation. I don't even think it's an issue of people not thinking it will happen to them, at least not in general, but one of people not knowing what CAN happen. :(

Those kids believe that their parents are their protectors, and that they'll be there for them! And yet, when they're slowly dying in a HOT VEHICLE, where are they?? Carrying on at work, in the market, at a party, or WHEREVER with no freakin' clue!
2 ups, 7y
Oh yeah, I agree. Again I wasn't making an excuse for them. But there are two Americas, if not three or four or five hundred, and what you or I take for granted as an intelligent decision with aforethought doesn't always play in Palookaville, Wherever. Unfortunately, the punishment here is knowing for the rest of your life that you killed your child, which is far worse than any prison time.

Been stories in the news about people leaving the kids in the car while in the bars or casinos. Yeah, I guess like someone else said, the feeling is "That would never happen to me."
