Yeah I'm in the old school train of thought that you DON'T teach kids that everyone's a winner. Life is ABOUT winning and losing. If a kid doesn't learn from losing and make improvements to their performance (be it athletics or school..or, God help them, adult life), that kid is gonna be shell-shocked by real life.

And that's BAD parenting. Not good.

I prefer to say, "It's OK, don't cry. We're all losers anyway."
If everyone is a winner, we might as well all be losers.

Participation trophies are feesonh into a sense of entitlement that's tearing society apart. I work with people who think this way. All they have to do is be there to get a paycheck...

But really screw fun, find something your child is good at that you 'both' enjoy to focus on. The 'both' part is optional, but spending time with your child is much better when you both enjoy it.
