It's a metric to let people know how well they do with their memes. For some, it's personal satisfaction, while others actually tie it to their income. It's like applause. The karoke singer gets applause, though he may not make a penny doing it. An opera singer at the Met gets applause and gets paid for it. The panhandler plays his guitar in the subway but rarely gets applause. The coins and bills in his guitar case are his applause.

My meme says it all.
Quite frankly, the only good I can see them doing is (1) stroking fragile egos, and (2) helping those who have low self-esteems.
I mean....come on....you can't even amass a butt load of points and trade 'em in on a lousy t-shirt or anything!

Well, you're not far behind me in points. You're ahead on creations. But behind on comments. Feature rate is just a little lower than mine. Numbers on your memes compared to mine aren't much different.

I'd say puns and the absurd are your best style. The groundhog day protests is hilarious. I upvotes that. Due to downvote wars, users are getting spooked about commenting on anything political.

Hmmmm....never realized that. Yeah, I like puns and dumb shit that probably offends people. I suspect I get downvoted a lot. Because I post political stuff and negativity, because negativity is funny! I do also love crazy conspiracy theories. I love to leave annoying comments, but dont always do it, because I wont be able to find my creations afterwards. I usually feel like my memes should get more upvotes. They dont, though. I dont see how we'd have similar points. You get a a lot more uvotes than I do.

We may have been separated at birth. I've done the offensive route. I memes a guy f**king a chicken and captioned it that the colonel's secret recipe was discovered.

I know who my audiance is, but they are far and few between. Check your NSFW memes and you'll find my core audience. Kinda small. The ground hog day one was hilarious because it took a current political situation and put it in another, relatable situation that was so out of proportion it was rotflmao. It got both the left and right wing Chuckling, anyhow. The first few memes I did when I came back were carefully thought out. One was a pro-obama meme that even got support from the right. Try as they might, they could not deny the logic. Next up was a bi-partisan meme about airbagsvbeing a redundant feature in a politicians car.

I've tried to stay with that. Only partisan one I've done since my return was aimed at Hillary Clinton. I only got one comment, about a week later and handled it with fact backed opinion. Still, I got well over 100 views on each. But I keep politics on the back burner.

Two things I didn't mention above: try and keep to what you know. How do you think I get such good reactions to my Redneck memes. Also, and this is a biggie, share on other social media. I share most of mine on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. Did Reddit for a while, but...

I cant post my memes on facebook in my real name :-( I wish.

Offline, I am a media junkie. So I watch a lot of news. Both sides. I like offensive politics, but that will totally clash with real life, so I have to stick to anonymous.

Everything I do is carefully carelessly thought out.

I dont really know what I know yet. Still very new at this. Thanks for the pointers.

Tumblr and Twitter don't show your real name if you choose a user name. In 22 years, I've used the Swiggy moniker in some form or another. But I don't make it a secret. You'll find me on those two as swiggy1957. I keep my life simple. Facebook, when you find my real name, you'll find boring because of the priacy settings. Those are there for several reasons, and those reasons are to protect some of my grandkids from abusive fathers.

I dont use twitter or tumblr. I'll have to look into it. But its hard to get followers. I need to keep a boring image in real life. The stuff of my memes is a big no no work wise.

I can dig it. I answered the phone one time at the restaurant I was working at. I got a comment from my boss that heard me. She was flabbergasted how professionally I answered the call until I got to the point where I said, "This is Swiggy". I've used that nickname ever since it was given to me in Jr Hi.

If you've ever been iñ a brain storming meeting, you know that some of the craziest things said, the most stupid things get the gears in the brain going. An example? How about the meme I just made. I was inspired by your meme. I was going to word it differently, but felt the idea would be good enough to be a stand alone meme. I'll use this one tomorrow.

Still can't get an idea? Check what the theme week is. Heck, the featured meme here is Ludwig von Drake! Click on the cartoon tag below, and you'll see tons of cartoon related memes. Just think of your favorite cartoons from when you were a kid. I'm pulling toons out of my butt that half the adults have never heard of. I recommended several old toons to my cousin, and he's making it to page three consistently. You got any idea how page three helps your points? I've been watching this meme go up and down like a rubber ball on that page. At this rate, I'll be on the leaderboard by summer and will really have fun staying there. I'd be there now, but I deleted my account in October and started over.

Never been in a meeting at all. I'm a freshmen in a high school teaching us how to build airplanes. My life's extremely boring. The most exciting thing that happened to me in the past week was shutting up a toxic teacher in Overwatch. Even then, most memes about gaming and school situations don't get much attention.

I've never really participated in a theme week, since I can't think of anything creative to do (That and also I don't have any editing software to make my own images for memes. I usually rely on google images and if something isn't there I'm screwed).

Last thing first: I do everything on my cellphone. No editing software on it. If I need to put a head on something, I Google whose head I want to use, but I add the words "transparent" and "PNG". It's not like the software I used when my computer was hooked to the Internet, but it gets my point across.

Meetings? Had several a month when I was a frosh. Wasn't a big clubber, but I was involved in the school newspaper. It was more than just tossing around ideas, but how to take four blank white pages and turn them into something readable. Lead stories. Sports scores. Humor articles. Where to put them. I was always on page 2, as the humor writer, but people glanced at page one, then went straight to what I wrote, but it was a team effort. Join a club at school. The interaction will pay off in later life when you have to deal with workplace issues.

Gamer memes. You're right, they don't get much attention outside the game arena. It's like being the captain of the chess club team. In chess matches, you're on the top, but in the real world of high school, chess captain is rarely BMOC. Look at the turnout for interscholastic chess matches. Or even track. I glance at gamer memes because it's a foreign language to me. There are too many games. I've yet to see memes about Monopoly, Game of Life, or Sorry. Occasionally I'll see a Pacman pie chart. I lost track of Pokemon in the second generation. No, gamer memes have a small following. But that's your thing. Good. Now spread out and increase your circle of interests. You're learning to build airplanes? Do memes on some of the different models of planes. Pick the unusual ones. The flying wing or the flying pancake. Might get some extra credit

There aren't many clubs in my school that spark an interest. The ones I can list off the top of my head that my school has are; Christian Club, Muslim Association Club, Robotics Club, ROTC, Color Guard, And all the sports the school hosts. The only one I was interested in was Anime Club, but it was inconvenient for my schedule as I would have to stay in the library for two hours until 5pm came around. I was planning to hold off on joining a club until Sophomore year where (hopefully) my school schedule will line up better with when the club is suppose to meet up. One person in the school recommended to ask about the Spirit Club, but because the person to talk to about it didn't meet up at the time they said they would when I heavily stressed that I couldn't stay for long and I needed them there at that time, I've been reluctant about joining it since then.

Surprisingly enough, we actually haven't learned ANY history about airplane designs. The only model I learned about thus far is the Boeing 737. I didn't even know about the flying wing or the flying pancake until you mentioned them. The school really only teaches us how to work on modern airplanes, and at the moment freshmens are only required to know the basics of physics, math, electricity, and aircraft drawing. I don't even know how an engine works nor the parts that make it function.

I'll see if I can do that trick, though I don't understand how you use the png image and then put it onto the template you want.

Anime club, you'll have better luck with anime here: at least if you do something mainstream. I just started collecting the Ranma 1/2 series. Used, but still great. I gave my Granddaughter (15) season 2 for Christmas. I checked it out, first, and discussed with her mom if it was okay because it had topless scenes in it. She said if her girls hadn't seen those by now, they would soon enough. The girls are hooked on it. A Japanese martial arts love story with a twist. Every time he gets hit with cold water, he turns into a girl. Sounds stupid, but Rumiko Takahashi is a good writer and pulled it off beautifully. I'm thinking of doing some memes with that.

PNGs and transparent GIFs are easy to drop into a template. It's like adding a scumbag hat. Load your template into the meme generator. The button bar above your graphic has an add image button. Click the button. The first choice is to either place your picture inside the template or attach it at the bottom to make a two (or more) panel template to work from. Drop your transparency inside the template. It will be in front of the pic, but always behind the text. Use the corner handle to scale the pic, the top or side handles to stretch the height or width. Put it where you want, adjust accordingly. This meme shows different methods. I used a good graphics editor to put my head in the pic. O
I hadn't learn about matching skin tone then. I did this lic years ago. It was the template I started with.

Next, I went to add picture and uploaded the alien. Clipart I snagged from Google. Grabbing the center of the pic allowed me to move him where I needed him. I put him in the corner. Added the text and I was done.

Thank you for telling me that! I'll try to do these for future memeage. I had clicked on the button before, but never knew what it did so I just left it alone.

My taste in anime varies, though I am picky with what I like. One very mainstream one I like is Death Note, one semi-mainstream one is Assassination Classroom, and one most people probably never heard about is Akuma no Riddle. (I tend to lean towards darker animes, but I do enjoy my cute stuff now and then). Though with that description, I think I'll have to look up Ranma.
[deleted]
2 ups, 7y
I'd say I'm more mainstream. Ranma 1/2 is one of the first properties VIZ acquired. It's very light hearted, but for the darker stories, I prefer manga.

I don't have a problem helping others. I've gotten tips and tricks over the years. I pass on what I can

You do. The other day a kid posted a sarcastic meme about the leaderboard members. 33/39 featured, 55 creations, 10K points and 3 comments since August. Kinda ticked me off. See for yourself. https://imgflip.com/i/1jq79a

To bad the number of lines don't show up. He's been here since August. No reply. Only upvotes appear to be other commenters upvotes.

One reason why I'm passionate about getting this meme to page one. In 20+ years on the internet, I've never used the term Noobs, but I'm sorely tempted. ;-)

When you read my comment, you'll see I'm speaking for all the leaderboard members, even those that I disagree with. I try to play fair.

My passion for this place. Look up the term eternal September. Unlike the professionals and upperclassmen prior to that, though, the new users are not high school graduates. Some are still in Jr High. They haven't honed their social skills, yet. Unless they're guided to what's acceptable and what isn't, they are clueless. Like someone sitting down at a fancy dinner, picking their nose and putting the contents on your plate.
