Cheers to us old farts who started off every Saturday morning with Looney Tunes!!! Cartoon Week...A Juicydeath1025 event

My brother used to wake me up to go watch cartoons together. I should give him a prank phone call on a Saturday morning just to tell him "cartoons are on." :)

I wouldn't consider myself an "old fart," but I do remember looking forward to Saturday morning and the cartoon lineup. Loony Tunes, Popeye, Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, etc ... Those were the days.

My Saturdays started with The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour, then it was Thundarr the Barbarian, Godzilla, Spidey Friends (With Iceman and Firestar) Shazam...etc.

Remember when it was so hard to get out of bed to go to school but easy to get up early to watch Saturday morning cartoons?

I started off with star trek and the three stooges, but I'm only 18.

Yeah...I'm talking Saturday mornings in 1974 for me...I'm 47. They won't even play some of the cartoons from back then anymore because they're "Too violent"...

The worst part of it is they deleted parts of the cartoons because of violence or racism, but continued to show them. I know they do the same thing with movies, but these are cartoons!
Some examples: bomb blows up, character becomes a black guy; one where Yosemite Sam says Ghandi, gets changed to "mamby pamby"; gunshots to the head = deleted... etc.
Luckily, I have some good ones in their original, uncut form :-)

They even banned Road Runner cartoons for awhile.

Looking for good quality cartoons nowadays is really hard to come by...

I still watch some Looney Tunes if I catch them...but you are right about it being hard to find quality cartoons.

I think the early 2010's made a lot of good cartoons, but they are slowly vanishing...

Regular Show end a while ago, so did Gravity Falls. I still have The Amazing World Of Gumball, The Loud House, and the upcoming Samurai Jack, so yeah not that bad at all! ;)

I still miss Gravity Falls :(
