Actually I was using worldwide figures for Aids Death and guns...not just US figures.

Just an addition to my comment below ..... I don't think so. All the guns in the hands of soldiers, police, criminals, enthusiasts, hunters add up to a lot of shots being fired globally given all the conflicts, spats and tribal wars going on, some of which we are not aware. Then there are all those guns hanging on walls or sitting in cabinets in homes across America which are just begging to be let loose in a school or shopping centre or city centre and you can't tell me that doesn't happen. Do not bring an uninvited subject into one of my memes. I am assuming you're both American and I am too 'English', too polite to tell you what I think of your gun lobby other than to say that the amendment to the constitution which guarantees your right to bear arms was written at a time when there was no centralised policing service and people and communities struggled to protect their families and property, it is a relic from the past and needs rescinding.

I have over a dozen guns. They haven't killed anyone. I go to sleep every night with a loaded gun less then 3 feet from my head. I'm still here.

I've never even seen a real gun let alone held one in my 51 years and I'm still here and I've also never known anyone with AIDS. I would feel safer in the company of someone with AIDS than someone with guns.

I will try and be very polite but respectfully, you know nothing of the True American Gun culture. The fact is There are Millions of Guns here that sit quietly locked up and only come out for target practice, hunting season, or self defense. Less than 1% of the guns are used to commit crimes and as far as deaths go, automobiles,and doctors kill more people every year than guns do. Guns are just a tool so put the blame where it belongs on the criminal. I am older than you and we used to take our guns to school with us so we could hunt for food on the way home and Nobody ever got shot because our parents taught us the respect of guns and right from wrong. Now we live in a dangerous world where more women like in europe are being raped by Muslim immigrants , so here the women are training and arming themselves because the Police are minutes away when seconds count so we are fighting back against crime. Our Right to keep and bear arms came about because England tried to come here to the "Colonies" and take our guns away, over tax us and then shot innocent people who protested. Fast forward to WW2 where the Japanese wanted to invade the USA but realized there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass and just us having guns deterred them. You have apparently been misinformed by the Propaganda of the Media and Anti-gun people who want Control of the people by disarming them and that has led to millions being exterminated who were sheep led to slaughter in Russia , Germany, China,Korea, and Africa.I disagree with it "being a relic from the past" because the world has grown More Dangerous because of Crime and terrorists and drug gangs and World leaders who want to destroy our way of life. You should Thank gun owners in the US who sent Guns to Great Britain in WW2 so your people could fight the Germans or you would probably be speaking German now if it had Not been for US ! I am ex-military, ex LEO, And a champion target shooter, I own over 100 guns and I have never killed anyone and neither has my guns, but I have stopped criminals as well as saved the life of a woman who was being charged by a grizzly bear in Alaska. We all Hate the fact that criminals use guns to kill innocent people but they also use knives, clubs, explosives, vehicles etc. But at least people with guns can Defend themselves because the police are just gonna investigate after the fact after you get killed.

I will not show you gentlemen any more disrespect by arguing that my way is absolutely right and your way is absolutely wrong as I believe in learning about other cultures and not berating them for doing things differently, I was simply taken aback when the subject of guns was brought onto the topic. Whilst I maintain that 'no guns' is better than 'guns', I will accept that is partly because of my cultural heritage and I agree, definitely that only the massacres make it onto the news over here .... and the occasional documentary about white supremacists and extreme preppers who live off the grid and wait with guns loaded for the time when the Feds arrive. I enjoy discussions and debates as I learn more than just reading or watching, you can't beat first hand knowledge and I hope I didn't offend you gentlemen too much; my apologies if I did.

No need to apologize , but don't believe just one side of the story. Just remember too that Governments are the biggest consumer of Guns for war against others, just like the British did all over the world. We Americans are Citizens where others are Subjects to the Crowns and under that Control. We are the Defenders of freedom and the country should our Government fall or Our Military be destroyed . Exactly. And when a gun is used for defense it rarely gets any media coverage. I have had to draw twice. Once for a home invader and once for an attempted assault/possible carjacking. In both instances I did not need to shoot. I took the home invaders gun away and held him for police. The assault perp ran when I drew my gun. Neither of those were headline news.
