Contrary to popular belief, it's not rare to see a front page meme by a user not on the leaderboard.

In the last week of October, I made a meme with links to memes I saw on the front page that week by users who weren't on the leaderboard yet. That meme didn't get a whole lot of attention, though:

it was certainly rare last week! but pretty sure the top five where off-leaderboard users last night before i hit they hay (probs about 6pm EST)! cheers for that link, i didn't even see half of those on there :-/

As another example, right now (3:45am EST approx.) the top meme I see is the Abraham Lincoln one by bonkyboy:
