I dropped a phone once. It didn't get a scratch,

because it was a samsung.

I dropped my old Samsung Charge I don't know how many times and never a cracked or scratched screen. The metal rim around the case was all dinged up but it still worked a few months ago when I broke my new phone.

[image deleted]I was just gonna say that. I haven't had a landline in years.

I have a land line, sort of. It works off my internet service, therefore requires electricity. The ONE place I get no bars up on my cell phone is my apartment.

Funny meme! However, your best reason to have a land line phones is this:

"You feel safe having that cellphone with you. If there's ever an emergency — no matter where you are — you can call 911 for help.
Unfortunately, that sense of security is partly an illusion.
Your wireless device has a big limitation: It doesn't give the 911 operator your exact location. So if you can't talk — which is often the case in a medical emergency or a crime in progress — it may be difficult or impossible for emergency responders to find you in time. " http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/why-calling-911-your-cell-not-always-good-idea-n99736

Yes, I do work for a company that provides landline services :)

That's interesting. I have a phone service connected to my internet service. And I prefer to give that number out when ever any business asks for my number. Only my friends, family and doctor offices have my cell phone number.

I do the same, I have a magic jack for business which forwards to my cell. That way whenever I move on, I don't have to field calls from them, forever. Its funny, I have taken 2 sales calls this year for a company I haven't worked at for 12 years. Too bad, I could have used the money.

Actually that depends on where you are. 911 systems in many places are setup to collect location information from cellular callers. In fact, the system in my city can handle text messages too.

True that some are more advanced than others, but I would suggest to anyone, ask a fireman or paramedic in your city what they think.
