The way people keep dropping out because of the Zika Virus, we'll be lucky to have an Olympics!

LOL, check this out, I found out that there is an actual hotel in Rio called "Casa Mosquito"! Google it if you don't believe me, it's too funny to seem true, I know!

I watched "The Price is Right" Friday (my favorite thing to do if I have a day off on a weekday) and one of the prizes on the showcase was a trip to Rio, staying at Casa Mosquito! I about fell out of my chair!

I hadn't really given the zika/olympics thing a lot of thought until they other day when this was actually laid out in front of me. You will have tens of thousands of people from all parts of the world headed to an area where a virus is being passed by mosquitos, a virus with no vaccination and no cure as yet. People will be bit and then go home with the virus in their blood. There they will get bit by mosquitos in their own country. I don't know the odds on infection and I'm not sure anyone does at this point but I am pretty sure the odds of containment are 0%.

Sometimes I think the pharmaceutical companies create some of these viruses, just so they can release the cure a few months down the road....

Microcephaly would be a cruel way to make money. I think I would lose all faith in humanity if I found out something like that was real.

Exactly, They don't care about nothing but that almighty dollar. And bet all the politicians stock portfolio's are full of pharmaceutical's. And then they also love to play up the fear factor about everything so they can act they are protecting us....My dad always told me not believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see :)

I tend to agree with that statement. Groups of people don't have the best track record for keeping secrets.

Except for the spreading of the disease all over the world, the symptoms if any are that of a minor cold. Only pregnant women need to concerned about going.

If an infected person returns to their country, and then that person's blood is taken in by mosquitos there and they become infected, whoever they bite becomes infected. I hope I'm very wrong about how this works, but I haven't heard anything that disputes this.

That is how it works unfortunately, so the pregnate women that don't go are still at risk for getter it when the people return to their country

Yeah these people are all very stupid. Brazil is being extremely irresponsible by allowing this to go ahead. This is literally a dream situation for spreading a virus. But it's all about the $$$ and they've got too mych money sunk into it now
