Ah, is it? In that case, much better. Hard to know with all this online viral content that spreads bs. Like you say, chucking smoke bombs at police is still not great, but a world away from actually throwing grenades or Molotov cocktails with the intent to kill indiscriminately. You can't just go around murdering people, even police officers. That's warzone stuff.
Ideally the courts will work it all out and give the appropriate sentence that's proportionate with the crime.
And both Trump and the state governors will get their act together and find a level-headed way to end this while also respecting the human rights of immigrants no matter what their status is. (If they're illegal with no valid claim to asylum or whatever and should genuinely be deported, fine, but do it properly and remove them the right way. Now it's a mess.)
Sending in the National Guard and Marines on one hand and overriding the state's own governors (something very unusual for a president to do), and calling it "mostly peaceful protests" on the other. Both two extreme. (Maybe they are *mostly* peaceful, but there's still quite a fair bit of burning going on. So just call it what it is: riots. They're not marching slowly down the street with placards singing Kumbaya and listening to speeches on a podium. And save time instead of alienating half the opposition voters.) Where are all the sensible people?
