Jonathan Edwards, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” [1741]
Edwards talks about how unrepentant sinners are breathing at this moment, and not in hell already, only because of God’s mercy; giving them more time to choose God over eternity in hell without Him.
Here is part of his sermon that helped bring on the First Great Awakening in America:
"There is nothing that keeps wicked men, at any one moment, out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God.
God may cast wicked men into hell at any given moment. The wicked deserve to be cast into hell. Divine justice does not prevent God from destroying the wicked at any moment. The wicked, at this moment, suffer under God's condemnation to hell. The wicked must not think, simply because they're not physically in hell, that God is not--at this very moment--as angry with them as He is with those miserable creatures He is now tormenting in hell, and who--at this very moment--do feel and bear the fierceness of His wrath.
At any moment God shall permit him, Satan stands ready to fall upon the wicked and seize them as his own. Simply because there are not visible means of death before them at any given moment, the wicked should not feel secure.
All that wicked men may do to save themselves from hell's pains, shall afford them nothing if they continue to reject Christ."
While Edwards would still be preaching this sermon, he kept getting interrupted from people running down the aisle and dropping to their knees, asking what they must do to be saved.
That began to spread throughout our continent during the time before the American Revolution of 1776. | image tagged in christian, jesus, bible, god | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

WHAT IS “NEW AGE”?
It was a big part of my life before getting saved so my extensive personal experience helps me teach how to witness to New Agers. Since it teaches that anything goes, New Age is the combination of a great many practices, with a lot of dark stuff mixed in. In fact, it can get evil very quickly. It’s a westernized blend of many ancient & modern Hindu & Buddhist religions & philosophies, combined with occult practices.
They've been ”evangelizing” America for decades in our movies, games, schools, yoga, meditation, & everywhere they can. New Age is centered on relativism, which means followers can form their beliefs from anything and everything. It's Satan’s lie from the garden that “we can be God” to decide our own right and wrong, good and evil.

Anything goes. For me it was appealing because young & rebellious people everywhere don’t want to listen or submit to anyone, including God. Youth are vulnerable to the New Age message that falsely promises they can make up their own truth, morality, and eternity. As one guy said, it preaches political correctness, which claims, “MY truth over THE truth.“ But THE truth from God involves consequences for where they WILL spend eternity and GOD will decide that. | image tagged in new age, god, bible, jesus, buddhism, hinduism | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

IS THE GIFT OF PROPHECY FUNCTIONING IN THE CHURCH TODAY?
Let's look at Hebrews 1 to see how God communicates with us today.
Do we still get new visions and prophecies from God that are applicable for us now and if so, my question is always this: If they are from God, then why aren't we using those to write a “Newer" New Testament?
Or do we have the canon of Scripture and that's all we need?
The latter is what the Bible says in Hebrews 1: "In the past, God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets."
So, yes, He spoke to us through the prophets many times and in various ways.
That was God's methodology at that time “in the past” before Hebrews was written. It continues with the "however" part: "In these last days He has spoken to us by His Son."
The words given to us by Old Testament prophets are in the Old Testament and those spoken to us by His Son for these last days are recorded in the New Testament. Guess what. That's it so we're done!
This continuing idea that God is going around to different people giving them "new words" and new ideas, would mean we need to make additions to the New Testament.
I hope no one would even go down that route, and in essence, these supposed new words and new visions are just people getting outside the Scripture. | image tagged in god, bible, jesus, pray, christian, prophecy | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
