A lost opportunity. | In April 2016, Elon Musk invited the people of India to preorder the upcoming Tesla Model 3 for $1000, but then backed out due to tariffs - leaving those who pre-ordered to try to get their money back somehow. Although the tariffs could double the price of vehicles, they could have reduced the amount to 15% if they were willing to open a factory in India; but chose not to do so. In the meantime other companies have been selling EVs in India at lower prices.
