In fact, the Jewish Talmud (oral laws) lists 3000 laws handed down by the Jewish leaders—just for planting zucchini!—not to mention how it must be cooked and eaten. Wow! Obviously, the creators of all those tedious, religious practices had their followers mired in worthless works, focusing them away from the heart of God. Those men used the laws they created to control people, just as so many manmade faiths do today. Jesus said the rabbi’s looked good on the outside, but inside they were stumbling blocks to people having a relationship with God. Those false teachers were greatly burdening the Jews with all their
