in a perfect world, pride flags should be unnecessary- they are merely a talisman for bigotry, and if we were truly accepting we would disregard these and treat a queer person normally (a trans woman is a woman, a gay person is still a person). Just because of their relation juxtaposed to sexual organs, they still are basic humans. think of America's flag. it originally was rebellion, a way to tell Great Britain "we are not your commonwealth, we are our own power. equals to you." a pride flag traditionally has the same effect; matter of fact, it's all pride flags. every country. nazis? used a pride flag. fr*nce? pride flag. if we truly normalize something, we don't need indication. in 1916, a German miner in the US was wrapped in a German flag and torched. he was considered to be not normal, because he was German. today, however, we wouldn't associate a "normal" German man with such a flag. so why must we label a transgender person, or brand them with a flag? how are they below a white cis man, who needs no flag to be himself? | image tagged in food for thought,lgbtq,gay pride flag,flags | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
