It depends, my daughter was born profoundly deaf, within days we had hearing aids for her and she could start to understand us. It's all about how fast the diagnosis is. Now what language? Children are such a sponge they'll pick up anything they see, you don't learn to pee in English do you? Lol. MemePally explains it well below, but the thing is that the diagnosis must be as early as possible, the first five years is crucial, if you find your child is deaf at 1 or 2 years old (don't laugh, it happens!). Your child is not going to learn as fast and may take till he/she is ten years old to catch up to his peers. I was lucky the the wife (now ex) jumped into action immediately! By the age of 5 she was at the same comprehension level as her peers and even went to a regular public school!! Oh, at 14 months she had a cochlear implant implanted in her right ear and it has been operating flawlessly. Nice meme by the way! It was so stressful that it caused a divorce, be mindful and kind to the parents and kids who have to deal with this, it's tough enough! Not that I ever thought y'all wouldn't , but I just had to say it because of my experience! Have a good evening! ;)
