My dad was a cop. He taught me, "You do what you're going to do. And then I'll do what I'm going to do." When it comes to the law, you can't go bending it to uphold it. If one is getting paid to uphold the law, they cannot break the law in the process or they cease being law men and are simply criminals. Period. There is no debate on that.
IF, one feels strongly enough about something to disobey the law, then they should continue to feel strongly enough about it to take the consequences of those actions. If they don't, then they are just wusses who are no different than liberals who throw fits to get their own way.
So. For me, I see it as my dad said, You do what you're going to do and I'll do what I'm going to do.
Right and wrong don't change based on mitigating factors. All that does is influence what you are going to do. But the line doesn't move.
Additionally, in my experience as a grown woman ... cops ... well, I don't rely on them for my safety. ;-) And I don't ask them for help. "Help" is not what I have found to be the result of calling them.
