how does one become a mod? do you need to send in a resume? or is this a volunteer thing?

The moderators have the ability to make any other user a moderator. I am a moderator of a forum of a popular chatting site because I asked a moderator to make me a mod and they asked me many questions about moderation and then I had to agree to a lot of terms and use and I became a mod of that chatting forum. But it depends on these moderators if they can let any user become a mod.

yeah i've done that too for forum sites (in fact i was the one that made the terms of use for the site), but i just don't really know what the criteria is here.

The thing is if you ask these moderators about becoming a mod they won't reply to you about it

The super moderator of this site is ¨Imgflip¨. He is the creator of this site. The other moderators are just friends of his and he made them mods. So a mod can make another user a mod

oh ye, thats how i got in with the forumotion.com sites xD but damn forumotion is a pain in the ass to format, it took me hours to figure out how to properly install an IRC webchat
