I agree on both counts. You can write faster in cursive than you can write in printing. You can also do many math problems faster in your head than with a calculator.
There is good news. Classical private schools are taking off. And the Classical Learning Test (CLT) is designed to test students ability from Grade 3 to Grade 12. That way, parents could homeschool their children for a few years, and then those children could test into a classical private school, several grades ahead of their age if possible.
