Our founders knew that if God wasn't in it, we would never succeed. Our Declaration of Independence cites our rights coming from our Creator, not the government. Why isn't this taught in our "schools"?🤔

Indoctrination has absolutely replaced education. There have been college students telling the Internet that they can neither read nor write and claim victimhood when failing to get jobs post college. They feverishly work to remove any mention of Christianity and it's God while promoting Islam and Satanic worship in our schools. Books are no longer read and discussed. Instead it's excerpts small enough to remove Cliff Note versions as too long and verbose.

Libs have a short span of attention (and often poor work ethic) which makes it easier to be a victim instead of a victor. When we attended school many moons ago, proper English, grammar, and punctuation were drummed into us. And then it was reenforced by our parents. I think that students more recently are left behind (unfortunately) as the educational standards have so declined, along with breakdowns within the American family.

Point well taken re the anti-Christian rhetoric and push towards Islam and the Satanic. In short, if left to the whims of the leftists, it will not end well....

It would be neat if all schools taught kids to write like that. But most don't.

My mom and dad were taught to write that way in the 40's. I didn't experience it in the 60's, but cursive was important. In 2010, I was informed that no time was being spent on cursive. Florid penmanship needs to make a comeback as does an understanding of the Holy Bible. Society would be far greater simply by obtaining that understanding.

I think I'm the only one at work that has a proper cursive signature.

I was a store earlier and one of the workers said she's getting her 15 year old son to learn to at least sign his name in cursive.

I know how you feel. At one local festival, there was a snowplow blade you could sign. I was the only one who signed in cursive.

I agree on both counts. You can write faster in cursive than you can write in printing. You can also do many math problems faster in your head than with a calculator.

There is good news. Classical private schools are taking off. And the Classical Learning Test (CLT) is designed to test students ability from Grade 3 to Grade 12. That way, parents could homeschool their children for a few years, and then those children could test into a classical private school, several grades ahead of their age if possible. The Classical Learning Test benefits both teachers and students by enabling more standardization throughout the system, not just in high school. Students feel they earned their place in their grade, and teachers can trust their students are prepared for that grade, reducing remedial work and avoidable learning gaps. And then when a student finishes high school, there are 350 colleges and universities that use the CLT for admission screening.

I prefer pen and paper over a calculator. However subtraction is a bit of a weak spot and will use the device.
