Trump Administration Announces Major Meatpacking Antitrust Settlement

The deal targets competitors sharing sensitive information to inflate prices, fulfilling President Trump's November 2025 order amid concerns over foreign ownership and threats to ranchers and national security. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins highlighted the lowest beef cow inventory since the 1950s and over 100,000 ranches lost in a decade, with the USDA's 'Beef Plan' pushing for fairer markets. A rancher at the event called it a step toward food security, where 'where there is beef, there is freedom.'
