He was a Baptist preacher, and he was very anti-communist. He was not a leftist. The democrats are the originators of the KKK so they inherently disliked MLK. The rumors that he abused women and cheated on his wife were fabricated by the FBI to smear his character. By the way, a higher percentage of Republicans rather than Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act in both houses of congress.
