"Many left-wing Americans compare Trump to Benito Mussolini. Believe me, you don't want that again for Italy."
Someone my mother was close to in this neighborhood dragged her to the polling station to vote against Obama both times, even though my mother was a Democrat.
In 2016, she came here again on Election Day, and I'm like, oh no, not again. But despite being a Republican she insisted that my mother come with her again to vote, but against Trump. She said "You don't know, this man, he's just like Mussolini." And this was a woman who actually lived in Italy under Mussolini when she was a child.
She was practically in a panic. I thought it was bad enough with Obama, and that had to do with certain negative feelings she bore towards his racial background. But in the case of Trump, she was in a genuine fright.
