Hmm.... Apparently I was mislead by a YouTube video (https://youtu.be/vlCnxuEARaM?si=kmlGdLH9n7UbfQND)
When you asked for sources I went back to that video. I just now looked up the Digital Currency Modernization Act. This includes anti-CBDC legislation. While I didn't read the bill (which I will later) it appears by name to ban any future attempts at CBDC.
I need to read the legislation because there have been bills, especially Democrat proposed legislation, that says it is for one thing but the text of the bill is the complete opposite. Specifically the Affordable Healthcare Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. Both bills did the opposite. Obamacare increased the cost of healthcare and decreased the quality of coverage.
Biden's Inflation Reduction Act had absolutely nothing to do with inflation except for spending trillions more dollars, which most likely had to be printed/digitized. Using money printing/digitizing as a means of borrowing money is the exact cause of inflation. It devalues the currency and that means it takes more dollars to pay for fewer goods.
The Biden administration as do all Democrats these days adhere to an economic theory that used to be laughed at but is now taken seriously. Modern Monetary Theory. It the idea that if the government needs money for whatever it wants to spend it on, then they print/digitize more. It got laughed because even early proponents of this theory knew it caused inflation. The solution they can up with was legislating the cost of goods. Which is a very good way of causing businesses to just close up shop and go home forever.
But I'm sure the Democrats will come up with another band-aid solution for that. And then another band-aid solution to fix the first solution and so on and so on.
