All the above. Too many grow up no longer having good working models to base marriage on. Too many enter into it with the understanding that I'm here as long as "my needs are met". Too many believe marriage is a 50/50 proposition. Too many are no longer willing to honor promises encapsulated within the standard vows. Far too many enter into marriage to get divorced and whatever financial assets they can take from their partners. Also, as Mrs B recently posted, too many believe they can "love their partners through the red flags".

They also forget that relationships are two-way streets, spending too much time thinking about what they can get out of the relationship and not enough time thinking about what they can put into the relationship.

One thing that rarely gets mentioned is politics, people on the left tend to live in a dream world where emotions changes reality. The right is more grounded, expect to see hard and soft times and can weather the storms better than the weak left. I know a lot of older people from Church that have been married for a very long time, none are democrats.
