Here's the problem, the government gains far too much information that is none of their business and with that information comes control over your life.

Another bigger problem is hackers. Nothing online is ever secure. And even worse is when quantum computing becomes available to everyone. Long before it ever becomes affordable, there are wealthy hackers who will have already penetrated every online protection that currently exists. They are already working on algorithms that will try to prevent hacking at the level quantum computing provides.

There are some seriously bad people in the world who will pay huge fortunes to be able to collect that information from the government. Let alone the seriously bad people (Democrats) who weasel there way into high level government positions to sell that data to anyone.
