Yeah, I think it's stupid that this is one of the main topics we're obsessed with in the West right now, along with arguing about immigrants every 5 minutes, or Muslims, and not major sociopolitical and economic and environmental issues that affect all of us that are much deeper and have been building up for decades or even generations.
It's all a smokescreen if you ask me. Trans people represent a tiny minority of people. We can argue about that if we want, but trans people and Muslims running for New York Mayor or Muslim immigrants arriving on dinghies are not going to bring down 3,000 years of Western Civilization as we know it or collapse capitalism. There are far bigger fish to fry.
It's a distraction. Because to solve the real issues would take decades, a lot of work, and a lot of soul-searching as a society. So it's easier to just blame easy scapegoats for the problems, then argue over it. While nothing actually changes.
I don't hate trans people. Suddenly they're in the news 24/7, as if a trans athlete is the most important thing the whole world should be focussing on right now. And not decades of underinvestment in public services, globalization, mismanagement of resources, government incompetence, the rise of AI, huge sociological changes, the declining birthrate, environmental problems, and so many other problems.
Why are we even devoting oxygen to this kind of stuff and getting bogged down in culture wars? When there are serious issues we should be focussing on? We should be all hands on deck to find cures for diseases, colonize other planets, tackle complex societal problems, do something about the huge demographic problems we face, and other stuff.
We're arguing over toilets.
