During the 1960s and 1970s 'liberals' showed their disdain for the military by openly protesting and occasionally spitting on returning veterans. Today's 'leftists' do the same simply by illegally diverting funds.

Go back further in time like the Civil War for both sides. Screwing over veterans, especially after a war, seems to be a government pastime. . .

Correction, we didn't like the war, not the people in it

As a vet myself, I know we would never have enough room to discuss all the reasons vets are homeless. Discussing why the left hates vets and loves illegals is much easier. The reason the military broke down under biden was because vets like me convinced the youth that this nation was not worthy of service and sacrifice and pointing out how much better life was for illegals over citizens was part of our argument. Now that our military is functional again things are turning around people want to serve and to be frank military life can set you up for a better life or totally wreak you. It's not for everyone.

I am still on the fence when I am approached by someone thinking about joining, it happens a few times a year, usually someone that knows me through church. I sit down with them and give them the pros and cons, answer questions and usually talk them out of it.

The military is no place to try social experiments and going woke gets good people killed. Personally, I still think people should still avoid the military until the changes are complete and the military is focused on killing people and breaking things.

What I tell people about going to college may apply to the military - Get a job after high school for a year or two. Then decide if you want to go to college at that moment or with what you are talking about, join the military. Partly for experience, partly to use cold hard realities to protect a person from BS politics.

There is this misnomer that college and military has to be done right after graduating high school. In truth anyone at any age can go to college and the military is the following -
Air Force: 17 - 42
Army: 17 - 35
Coast Guard: 17 - 41
Marine Corps: 17 - 28
Navy: 17 - 41
Space Force: 17 - 42

So yeah, people do have time to consider if they want to join the military or not and a few years in the real world can help.

Good advice, most of the ones that asked my advice were Christians and explaining to them that biden's military was openly hostile to them and everything they held dear was easy. Now that we have a new President, I am seeing signs if change and if the Republicans can hold power long enough military life might once again be an option. I am still reminding youth that there are plenty of better options and that you can serve the nation in other ways. If Vets were better taken care of after leaving the military things might be different but as long as half the country values illegals over vets I cannot see any value of protecting them. I am at the point now that should dims regain power and the country get invaded, I wouldn't lift a finger until my small town came under attack. Why would anyone defend a blue city?

I swear, what the foreign left focuses on should be used as a guideline for sane people to know what NOT to worry about.

I don't know about NYC, but here in the SF bay area, Newsom was putting illegals up at luxury hotels. The Mark Hopkins, for one.

Yet veterans are sleeping and crapping on the streets of SF.

Pelosi and Newsom are scum.

If they had an ounce of integrity, or even decency, they'd be ashamed of themselves.

And fwiw, I'm sure there have been plenty of times republicans, as well as democrats, voted against bills that contained veterans benefits. That's just politics, cheesy. If we had a line item veto, a lot of this could be avoided. And it's too bad your middle school doesn't teach you how the govt actually functions. You didn't even know about the 60 votes needed in the senate.
