Here’s the other catch. Marijuana is a schedule one drug. Under IRS tax code, you have to report the income from the sales, but you do not get to deduct the expense of selling the drug. That’s another reason it is so expensive at the retail level. Now the industry is lobbying to change it from a schedule one drug. But after it’s been on this market for a while, medical experts are saying it’s not as safe as it was claimed to be.

I do know that if you smoke it the stuff eventually wrecks your lungs. I am sure that the sheer potency of the modern stuff cannot be good for anyone in the long term regarding the toxins it circulates through the body. There are always long term negatives associated with all long term drug usage . . . medical or otherwise.

For sure. Pot tourism has resulted in overloaded emergency rooms and urgent care centers in Colorado. This summer about a half dozen pot tourists drove off cliffs with 30 times the legal limit of THC in their systems. Red Mountain Pass is no place to drive high. Lot of dopers fighting emphysema in their last years. Edibles are probably worse.

Not to mention those who end up in the emergency room dehydrated with uncontrollable vomiting. The ER sends them home with the instructions to take long hot showers to sweat it out.

Yes, I always wondered why that issue was never a factor when it came to legalizing the drug.

I played in a band decades ago with guys who never smoked cigarettes for the health reasons, but smoked weed like chimneys. I would show up for practice when they couldn't find weed to buy, and they would be scraping out the goo residue in their pipes to get high. Only a doper could give the blank stares I got when I asked why they didn't think their lungs were just as coated as their pipes.
I've only been in touch with a few of them, but each of them has emphysema, or severe COPD. Me? I'm climbing a 12,000 ft peak tomorrow.

Truth! Colorado promised to fund schools forever with pot sales taxes, whoops, schools are closing for lack of funding. Guess the dopers forgot to go buy pot.

Agree totally. Denver and the Front Range have become another one of the nation's murder capitals just in the last 10 years. I hope people understand what happened here. This is where liberals migrated when their shithole states were no longer tolerable. Mamdani driving people out of NYC is not a good thing, they'll bring pot legalization, their alphabet ideology and the communist agenda with them everywhere they go, not knowing they are executing a 100 year communist plan.
So called Colorado voters approved the recreational use of hallucinogenic mushrooms a few years back, and 'shroom shops are opening now. All I can say is "Danger Will Robinson!" to the rest of the nation. Don't fall for it.
I've lived here all my life. My wife and I worked hard to pay off all debt and create our retirement home in a place we could enjoy for our remaining years (hopefully decades). The tax load grows, cost of living is irrational, we pay $1 more per gallon of gas than every state around us. The thought of moving has crossed my mind, but where? New Mexico has a similar climate, but has been marxist for decades, Utah is being infiltrated by displaced communists, Wyoming is...well Wyoming is Wyoming, constant high winds and bitter winters. It sucks to be free, but trapped by marxists and the coming islmist flood.

I would say Texas, but Texas has been struggling with what you just noted; the toxic influx of refugees from California whom immediately try to create in Texas the very situations that they just fled from in California. Maybe Florida.
