I recently had a lady at our church, a retired politician, that worked in a well defended building ask me if I carried at church. When I told her that I carry everywhere, even at home. She told me that she didn't feel comfortable in a church that allowed firearms. My response was this area has over a dozen churches and all of them have armed security, start your own church or stay home and watch the service online, we did not and will not vote for you to run this church.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
-Edmund Burke

Troublemakers frequent locations where they believe:
-Nobody will notice the trouble they cause
-Nobody will mind the trouble they cause
-Nobody will be able to do anything about the trouble they cause

If one person does something bad with a gun in an environment where lots of other people have guns, that one person has only seconds to live.

The proof that the problem is a mental and morality decay issue is found in history. Guns have been around a long time. The idea to randomly murder multiple people had been a rarity until the advent of violent video games doing just that and a lack of spiritual guidance. The constant drumbeat of hate towards men hasn’t helped either.

There's also the belief that the highest form of courage/strength is "standing up for yourself and not putting up with other people's abuse/mistreatment/unfairness", which is a dangerous sentiment for three big reasons:
1. Abuse/mistreatment/unfairness are abstract terms often inaccurately defined in the eye of the beholder. Lots of people can't clearly articulate or understand the difference between Americans standing up to Great Britain during the American Revolution and a kid running away from home because his/her parents won't buy him/her an iPad.
2. The concrete actions involved in "standing up for yourself" can range from complaining at best to murder/terrorism at worst.
3. If the method of "standing up for yourself" is a violent one, innocent bystanders can be injured or even killed in the process. Watch the beginning of the 1992 film "Home Alone 2" or the end of the 1976 film "Carrie" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
