"The plan is ineffable." "How can somebody so clever as you be so stupid?" | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
To follow your logic, 1/3 of the time, G-d sends the angel JK to strike down that life in utero. Maybe there isn't a plan?

I feel bad for anyone who believes there isn't a plan in life. I just don't know what lies you'd have to tell yourself to cope with life's chaos.

You mean like in the Bible comparing a person's life to nothing but mere dust?

On the contrary, "There is a beneficient, omniscient plan" seems like the cruel lie to me. Life IS chaotic, and it is the role of mature adults to cope with that, and be as kind as we can be to each other.

First Corinthians 11:13: "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me."

If you're a grown-up, you're ready to stop believing in Santa Claus.

Yeah that's definitely what that verse means...

Anywho, I've found Psalm 14:1 to be a lot more applicable to life, personally.

It goes on: "faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love". Kindness is key.

Oh, the one that tells you to mind your own and not to be telling other people how to perceive the world? One of my favorites.

Srsly, I'm not even a Christian and I've told it to my kids enough that they know it.

Also, sidebar: I'm quoting a Jewish rabbi when I quote that line. Do you see the irony in Christians claiming a monopoly on that?

You haven't established that I don't believe: I'm just not Christian.

If you knew me, that would be meaningful (if tremendously ironic).

I'm sorry for your ignorance: I hope for your future learning.

What I see is you saying "People have to believe in God (and not just God, but MY particular flavor)". That's you worrying about motes, when you could be focused on the beam of your own spiritual growth.

There are lots of wonderful non-Christian theists, atheists, agnostics, et cetera out there, and if they're happy without the Santa Claus narrative that you're pushing, then it's fine.

Well, we'll all find out someday. Won't that be an exciting surprise!
