The decedents’ family needs to sue the state of California. At least $30 million plus punitive damages for each death seems appropriate.

Doesn't sound unreasonable to me. But why do the California taxpayers have to pay for it? Why isn't he personally responsible for the payment, it's his policy?

Californians elected and reelected politicians whose ideology resulted in an illegal immigrant that can’t read English and possibly never even had driven a vehicle before coming to America getting a commercial drivers license.

Yes I know that, illegal immigrants have been able to drive here for years. But in my opinion it's all about them being able to register to vote. This is one way the citizens of this state votes have been diluted.

OK. Then the way to affect change is to not only sue the state, but sue the Democrat party that pushed these changes that enabled this accident to take place.

California may give many illegals a drivers license, but in other states many illegals drive without a drivers license and insurance.

Yes but didn't giving illegal immigrants driver's licenses have to do originally with hit and runs, as well as illegal immigrants not having insurance?

Illegal immigrants can walk, take the bus, take a taxi, ride a bicycle. Giving them a drivers license is aiding and abetting their being here illegally. They should have a passport from their native country for ID. They didn’t obey immigration laws to be here. And if they’re driving without a license and insurance, that’s more laws they are flaunting. Deport them all

Well even if his pockets are shallow, he's responsible for the action happening, so payment by him should be required.

What is his net worth? $1000? The trucking company probably has insurance. California still needs to be held accountable.

No I'm not talking about the truck driver, I'm talking about Gavin Newsom, because he's the one who allowed the truck driver to have a commercial drivers license.

Politicians should be responsible for their own actions or inactions too, and not put weight of the financial responsibility onto the people.

When the state takes a drivers license away for DUI etc. they claim that driving is a privilege and not a right. When illegals come here with no right to stay, no right to vote, and no right to own a firearm, why in the world is California giving them the privilege to drive on the road? If you ask me, giving them a drivers license is aidng and abetting them being here legally.

The politicians are trying to produce a false image of this is what's Californians want. Which I don't think is true due to the cost associated with illegal immigrants are making services for legal citizens and cities reduced.
For example my City has still not been able to open the libraries full time since the pandemic, but the City's has the money to have legal services for illegal immigrants to avoid deportation. Including but not limited to places that illegal immigrants can consider safe spaces from ICE, which really aren't.
