You mean when Trump offered Nancy Pelosi access to the National Guard BEFORE Jan 6th arrived and she turned him down because she WANTED a display of civil disobedience from the right to hang like a noose around Trump's throat?

There is a claim that former President Trump signed an order to deploy National Guard troops before the January 6th attack, but this has been debunked as baseless. The National Guard is generally controlled by state governors, and Pelosi was not in the chain of command to deny such a request.

Not only a claim, but in fact, a FACT.

No, it's not. And you've seen it here enough times over the years to know that it's not.

The assertion that Nancy Pelosi was not authorized to call in the National Guard on January 6, 2021, is rooted in the structure of command and authority regarding the deployment of the National Guard.

Command Structure

Federal vs. State Control: The National Guard can be called into action by both state governors and the federal government. On January 6, the District of Columbia National Guard was under the control of the federal government, specifically the Secretary of the Army.

Role of the Speaker: As Speaker of the House, Pelosi does not have the authority to unilaterally call in the National Guard. This authority lies with the President and the Secretary of Defense.

Amazing that we didn't hear much about J6rs who randomly scaled building like Spiderman fall and break bones.

They must've practiced at home quite a bit, or assembled a MAGA team of rock climbers after Trump's tweet.

No.

As of August 2025, Washington, D.C. has experienced a significant decrease in crime rates compared to 2023. This trend is particularly notable in violent crime statistics, which have shown a marked decline since their peak in 2023.

Violent Crime: Overall violent crime is down 26% compared to the same point in 2024, and robbery has decreased by 28%.
Homicide Rate: The homicide rate, which peaked in 2023, has dropped significantly. As of August 2025, there have been 99 homicides reported this year, reflecting a 12% decrease from the same time last year.
Carjackings: Carjackings have also seen a decline, with 189 incidents reported so far in 2025, down from 300 during the same period in 2024.

As of August 2025, Washington, D.C. has a homicide rate of approximately 27.3 per 100,000 residents. This rate places D.C. among the cities with higher murder rates in the United States.

Currently, there are several cities with higher murder rates than D.C. based on recent data:

St. Louis, MO - Approximately 64.5 per 100,000
Baltimore, MD - Approximately 58.5 per 100,000
New Orleans, LA - Approximately 45.5 per 100,000
Detroit, MI - Approximately 43.5 per 100,000
Memphis, TN - Approximately 41.5 per 100,000

Just think how great those cities could be if they actually became red cities to match the rest of the state. Must be something that makes a blue city in a red state such a shithole…wonder what that could possibly be
0 ups, 4d
Because that fine solution never occurred to anyone before?

They were already in a state of decline when they became Democrat run. They elected Democrats because the Republican Party doesn't care about people.

Like the rest of those states, their cities would sink completely as well, as they had when Republicans did run them decades ago. Republican/Red States are the poorest states, the welfare states, the highest crime rate states.

Republicans can't run cities. That's why they don't run cities. Because they can't.
Because math is a thing.

But run by Democrats, and you damn well know that.
2 ups, 5d
Wait, you mean there are actual cities that are run by Republicans? I mean real cities, not small towns called cities because they are no other cities in that state?

That's very informative.

They're still in states run by Republicans.
Republicans can't run cities, unless you mean running them down.
1 up, 5d
Of course they are, no one expects anything different than blue cities being a breeding ground for crime

Basically all cities are run by Democrats, at least real cities. Republican cities are what we call neighborhoods around here. Literally. They don't even qualify as towns.

Yes. All big cities, populated by hard working citizens whose tax dollars are spent on those who do not. Magnets to the ne’er-do-wells and welfare queens that eventually breed three and four generations of do-nothings who will blindly vote for poverty pimps that promise them more free stuff paid for by the hard working citizens whose tax dollars are spent on those who do not. And we have come full circle, the never-ending cycle of misery and poverty that is the promise of big city Democrat grifters.
1 up, 5d
Correct, cities and surrounding urbanized areas are economic engines with which pay the bills for rural states due to the inability of cows and tumbleweeds to pay taxes in any noticeable amounts.

That's why cities are cities. Because they have actual viable economies.

Likewise, that's why ghost towns become ghost towns and not cities, because they have no economies other than the one gas station and dry goods store next to the post office while an aging shrinking population gets to witness its young moving out to cities in search of jobs that don't involve watching illegal aliens pick their corn for them.

Of course not. The numbers you cite are skewed. Murders are up. And murder is very violent.

False.
The violent crime rate in 2024 was down 35% for what it was in 2023, hitting a 30-year low, a with murder down 32% for the period.

Failure to get the National Guard to the Capitol on Jan 6th, rests directly on Trump & Ryan McCarthy the Secretary of Defense.

I didn't say anything about Nancy Pelosi, I know she has no direct influence over the presence of the National Guard in DC.... but the House Sergeant-at-Arms does and he reports to the Speaker of the House.

Investigations in the 4 years since J6 are showing that there was a lot bureaucratic hurdles getting in the way of a timely request, and Steven Sund's claims are directly contradictory to the official claims of the Biden administration about why the National Guard was not present despite saying that he requested them 3 days in advance.

According to NPR and the Post Sund told the Post that then-House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving was concerned with the "optics" of declaring an emergency ahead of the protests and rejected a National Guard presence and the then-Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger recommended that he only "informally request" the Guard to be ready in case it was needed to maintain security.

And since we've had a few officials come out like retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg who have claimed that Trump did in fact request National Guard troops be deployed in Washington D.C. before Jan 6th, it's starting to sound like at the very least there were a ton of requests made to the House and Senate sergeant's-at-arms for the National Guard and Pelosi may have been involved in pressuring them to not take those requests seriously
0 ups, 2d
Good thing it wasn't a foreign attack against the country. Trump's cluster f**k bunch couldn't even get the National Guard deployed. The Sergeant-at-Arms couldn't reach Pelosi anyway. There was a MAGAt sitting at her desk, in her office. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
