I could be wrong, but I don't think he ever sold them either. Originally, he ordered the underwear dyed pink in an attempt to stop inmates from stealing them.

It seems like the sales came well afterward, but I will stand corrected.

They were being sold years ago when it was in the news he was using pink shorts in the jail. The proceeds back then, and still now, go to charity.
