Political hacks like Elana Kagan shouldn't be on the Supreme Court

Checks and balances exist upon the executive and legislative branch of the government. There is no check on the judicial branch (SCOTUS).

No, because once they finally return to power -- and they WILL eventually return to power -- leftists will immediately begin abusing that new power.

The system works if and only if the SCOTUS rules strictly according to the Constitution and applicable laws. That's why Kagan's idiotic nonsense corrupts the court and undermines the very foundations of the federal government.

In theory, justices can be impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors" through the House of Representatives and the Senate. In practice, being an idiot and a political hack doesn't rise to that level. That's a shame, but it is what it is.

They don't even have that power you mention in the first paragraph because it doesn't exist in the US Constitution. If there's a problem with the executive branch then it's up the legislative branch to fix it. They pass a bill to address the issue and if the president vetoes it, the legislative branch can override the veto with a vote. The last and most extreme measure is impeachment if a president doesn't stop crossing the line.

SCOTUS' job is to make sure the legislative and executive branches stay in their own lane. The legislative branch while being the ones who can declare a war can't give soldiers any orders because that's the pleasure of the executive branch. The executive branch while being able to make executive orders can't make them full laws without legislative branch input and process.

Disbarment, impeachment, recalls. They're just rarely used.
