Putin says Russia supports Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy amid US threats

Apparently the Ayatollah wasn’t paying attention when Saddam got his ass kicked. Libya’s Gaddafi paid attention and went through back channel diplomatic efforts to give up his nuclear program.

Here is the rub.

When your highest political religious leader is decrying “Death to America, Death to Israel, death to the Infidels.

Probably best not to allowed them to develop nuclear capabilities of any kind.

Actions speak louder than words. Enriching uranium underneath a mountain beyond what is necessary for civilian nuclear energy is not peaceful.

Interesting little known fact about Saddam Hussein and Iraq: after Saddam was toppled, over 500 tons of yellow cake uranium were quietly extricated from Iraq. It was not publicized while it was happening for security reasons. There were legitimate concerns the shipments could be attacked and turned into a dirty bomb.
