Brandon Straka. Wasn't he one of the guys at the Capitol House Party?
Tbf I wouldn't say I condone flag-burning as such. I certainly don't approve of it, and I don't think I would personally ever do it (it's a pretty tacky thing to do). So I probably agree with you more than it appears. And if someone did it deliberately to provoke me then I'd probably still be a bit annoyed. But I would probably also laugh a bit at how pointless it was as a vain attempt to trigger people.
It's not destroying the symbol *in itself* that offends me; more just their intent in whatever message they're trying to send (especially if it implied violent intent). But the symbol itself is just a piece of cloth so burn it if you want lol. It's not like they're winning any points or hurting me by doing that. So not on the same level for me as, say, desecrating a war grave or spray-painting obscenities in a place of worship or something.
I don't even particularly need a national flag to feel pride in where I'm from. I didn't create it. It's just a handy symbol to easily identify ourselves. I'll feel pride in my nation if it does stuff like show itself to be civilized, developed, culturally and technologically advanced, offers a good standard of living to all its citizens, upholds human rights and human dignity, and conducts itself well on the world stage.
"To fly it with flags that have nothing to do with honoring our country is to disrespect our national flag."
See, I don't think I agree there. It's common all over the world to fly multiple flags in the same place. Eg national flags alongside a couple of regional ones or flags of other organizations. I don't think flying them together necessarily dilutes the value of any of them. But that's just me. So yes, people are different and I do accept that. (Whether I always respect people's *opinions* on every topic is separate from whether I respect them as people. I think everyone deserves basic respect; but their opinions (and my own) are separate from our identities and can be challenged.)
"There is a concerted liberal agenda to advance LGBTQ+."
Yes. However, we would probably differ in our interpretations of what that means. I don't think acknowledging the rights of a minority necessarily undermines the rights of the majority.
FYI apparently there is in fact a heterosexual pride flag. I've never seen it, but if people wanna dress up as zebras then feel free lol.
