Its like when people say Lizzo is beautiful then they get angry when you say they're starting to look like her
Its because everyone knows full well they're lying to both themselves and the other person in the room in equal measure

Only the ones that know they were hired for a box check instead of their skills would be offended…

How do you know who is or isn't a "DEI hire"?

When they’re actually good at their jobs might be a good place to start.

The vast majority have been actually good at their jobs. But I suppose DEI is a handy enough scapegoat for you when you see something going wrong.

I’ve seen it all possible ways. Minorities and women who were great at their jobs, white men who were worthless. But I’ve also seen true dei who got the job ONLY because they checked certain boxes.
