Why can't dems answer this?

I understand why Trump's implementing these tariffs. In his inauguration speech, he said he was going to create an External Revenue Service (ERS) so that by gaining more revenue through tariffs, we Americans would have to pay less money in taxes. He also wants to increase the number of products made in America, which would create more jobs and reduce unemployment.

Prices might increase in the short run, but I believe they'll decrease in the long run. Sometimes you have to make things worse before you can make them better.

We’ll never make enough money from tariffs to eliminate or significantly reduce income taxes.

But, hopefully, more jobs will remain in the states and more money will be spent on US goods. Of course this won’t mean lower prices, especially because labor costs are so much higher in the states. That’s why products imported from other countries are so much cheaper, even with tariffs.

Sometimes it amazes me how drearily predictable our leftists have become. I guess that happens when one's collective is trained to auto-gulp down all Party propaganda as truth and permanently disengage from all tendencies to engage in independent thought.
