It's a mystery to leftists WHY a movie franchise with old-fashioned values ever took off.

Because the Expanded Universe novels were well written.

There is that as well.

It was a Star Wars junkie's dream. The Dark Horse comic series was likewise excellent.

When Lucas pretty much hits us over the head with using all the classic epic themes rolled into a movie, then Disney's like, "so..., it's like witches, right?"

I bet it ultimately turns out that the executives making these decisions never even saw the original Lucas trilogy.

Episodes 4, 5, and 6 are excellent. Episodes 1, 2, 3 are respectable prequels. Beyond that, Disney was just milking the franchise like a cow even though the cow was dead and decomposing. Figuring out what made rhe priginals successful and abandoning wokeness will not save Star Wars.

Disney should have just left Star Wars alone, and if they had to acquire additional IPs, they should have focused more energy on Marvel, specifically on making movies that are easy for the audience to understand as standalone pieces. The way Disney makes Marvel movies, their narratives are so intracately intertwined, you have to see all of the movies just to understand one of the movies.

I agree with most of that; but I also do think that Disney infused each succeeding prequel with more and more aspects of WOKE and fewer of necessary plotting elements and meaningful characterizations. Lucas' 4,5,6, episodes had a uniform vision that worked together. The 1,2,3, prequels had leftist ideological preaching as the goal. Obviously I can be wrong about that. It's just my take on it based on the feeling each movie left for me.
