And that's why so many victims of bullies commit suicide.

That's also why more parents would rather tutor their children at home.

Kids who are bullied need to learn how to fight, boxing, MMA, krav maga, anything

They can learn those skills, but what good will that do them if they get punished just as much as (or more likely, worse than) the bullies for fighting back?

I would rather get in a f**kload of trouble and set an example, idgaf about the school’s rules. As a US citizen, I have the right to defend myself. I’d risk expulsion for that right and hire a lawyer if I could. The school rules surely wouldn’t hold up in a courtroom…

Not everyone can afford to hire a lawyer, and even if they could, what makes you so sure that the judge would rule in your favor and against the rules of the school you got kicked out of?

2nd Amendment, plus right to self defense in other places

I agree with self-defense against physical bullying, but what about verbal/cyberbullying? It's definitely wrong and should be punished, but do you think people should get physical for being verbally bullied?
1 up, 6mo
Verbal bullying is the kind of scenario that cease and desist orders, restraining orders, and defamation lawsuits were made for

I'll disagree a bit with you. If we ban verbal "bullying", that would be a literal violation of free speech. I think you should respond the same way to verbal bullying. If someone is cyberbullying you, block him/her and continue blocking him/her until he/she stops.

And definitely don't get physical to someone who said something you.

Schools don't have free speech like that.

Your school can punish you for swearing, talking in class, or defamation.

You can't just block someone who is cyberbullying you and think everything will be okay. They'll continue to do it, and schools should step in when one student does it to another.

The worst school bullies, and it's not even close, are in the school administration.

Teachers will watch school fights but god forbid a student has a beanie on they are gonna need back up troops like the swat team.

bruh that reminds me of a story from last year. my black friend wore a beanie to school and got iss for a day because they thought it was a durag and that constituted gang activities

Fighting isn't allowed. Being cruel, on the other hand, is not only allowed, it's practically encouraged.
0 ups, 6mo
True
0 ups, 2d
Encouragement? I wouldn't say that was the case at mine. Can you explain how it was encouraged at yours?

That's not really bullying, that's more disregard.
0 ups, 2d
When they suspend kids for defending themselves, or charge them with bogus crimes for trying to obtain proof that they're being bullied, I call that bullying.

If someone fights you, fight back. You can and you most of all may.

In my experience, schools really don't give a shit and only pretend like they do (on bullying lessons). Their reputation doesn't really get hurt by that, but my advice, as someone who has been bullied almost all his life, is to try to ignore them, because many bullies search attention from their victims and to tell the school if it doesn't work, which rarely works, so if it then doesn't work, try to avoid them and take matters into your own hands.

Just remember, buddy: you aren't worth less. Stand up for yourself.
