Either way he is still from Africa — however many generations ago his ancestors settled there. We don’t call descendants of the Jamestown settlers (like myself) “Englishmen” but “Americans.” We don’t call those from European descent in Australia “Europeans” but “Australians.” The descendants of Europeans who settled in Africa are African. Since Elon Musk is FROM Africa that makes him more African than someone who never lived there and has little if any African DNA.

Elon is of Dutch and English descent born in South Africa, which makes him an Afrikaner. So, he would be an Afrikans American.
