Springfield, Ohio, has seen a sharp rise in crime as thousands of Haitian migrants have settled in the town, with reports of shoplifting and vehicle thefts increasing dramatically, the Daily Caller News Foundation reported. According to data obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation through a public records request, the town of just under 60,000 residents experienced a 51.5% rise in motor vehicle thefts and a 112.8% increase in shoplifting incidents from 2021 to 2023. Springfield’s population has grown by 20.4% to 34.1% due to the influx of between 12,000 and 20,000 Haitian refugees over the past three years.
